“Most people when describing a nominee will say such gracious things as ‘few words can describe a person such as this.’ That’s not the case with Mickey Woodham. There are many words you could use to describe her, including some that probably haven’t even been invented yet,” the nomination stated.
During her 40-year career in advertising, Mickey served as president of Memphis’ American Advertising Federation chapter (AAF-Memphis). Mickey has also served on many committees in the community, such as the National Civil Rights Museum’s Freedom Award Steering Committee, Junior Achievement, Memphis Regional Chamber, Better Business Bureau’s Advertising Review Committee, American Cancer Society, The Commission on Missing and Exploited Children, Memphis City Beautiful, WKNO Public Television and the First Presbyterian Soup Kitchen. Mickey also created “Mickey’s Mojo,” a fund for things she is passionate about. The fund has given to Memphis College of Art, Syracuse University and the National Civil Rights Museum to name a few.
